This book is a cute story about teaching your child how to deal with their fears and changes in their lives. There are many times when kids just simply reject change. It can be any kind of change from moving into a new apartment, new location, or new school. But it’s not just about the change, its about facing your fears and being brave. My kids absolutely loved this book, especially my daughter who loved the graphics and ballet. It is both very colorful and engaging at the same time. We go through so many changes in our lives that sometimes we forget how difficult it can be for a kid to accept these new changes.
In the story, Princess Ruby is asked to take a new ballet class with all new students she doesn’t know. She becomes afraid because she starts to think of all the things that could go wrong to her in the class. She is afraid that she wont be good enough and that the other students will out perform her in ballet. Her mother, Queen Jacaranda, encourages her to take the class because maybe she will end up liking it. In the end, she attends the class and loves it. Her mom could not be more proud of her and actually tells her that she was a brave little girl for trying something new that at first she didn’t want to do.
This is a great lesson to teach your children. There are many times and circumstances when they will have to face a fear and learn how to overcome it. I would recommend this book if you want to introduce your kids to being a brave little boy or girl.
